“Dahlias in a Blue Vase” by Susan Sinyai
“Dahlias in a Blue Vase” is one of those spontaneous paintings that had a good ending. The late afternoon light was perfect on the back porch and seemed to be calling for those dahlias, just cut, in that blue vase. After arranging to my liking, and taking a picture of the scene in its “perfect” state, I quickly layed in the foundation for my painting – light, dark, reflections, shadow. By then, the light had changed, but fortunately I had my photograph, which allowed me to complete the painting, and I think, capturing the feeling of that moment.
